Notes

MTB, TMM, & BD:

I checked water levels of the creeks early this morning and concluded that the LJ and the Kish were probably a bit too high and fast for me to fish either of them this morning. Spring was at a good level, but I didn't feel like driving that far and contending with all the Friday fly-guys that are generally on Spring. So, I fished the Stone. I drove a couple of miles down the road to the Cummingsville section and walked fairly far downstream and fished back to the parking area. I was the first one on the stream this morning at a foggy 7:15, but by the time I got back close to the parking area, there were guys everywhere. A lot of bait fishers and three or four fly-guys. There were even three black bait fisherman fishing close to the parking area. That's something you don't see every day on the Stone.

I had a fairly good morning and caught 15 fish all together. Two little smallmouth bass about 7 or 8 inches long, the first smallmouth of the year for me. Seven rainbows, all stocked of course, and they were smaller than the rainbows that I was catching on the DHALO section of the LJ on Tuesday morning. Most of them were 9-10 inch fish. I also caught six browns that were 9-11 inch fish, with one nice brown that was 14 inches long.

It's good I got there early and was done by about 10:15 because it was getting hard to find a place to fish in the section of the Stone. Maybe next week I can actually spend some mornings on the LJ, who knows?
