Notes
PM Todd: 1Bass 10Pike, Me: 6 Pike (2.75lbs)(With Steve's help and truck pulling the pontoon lift went smoothly. The wind direction worked for running West of Access. We drifted out from West of Access Reeds down the southern side of the Melon Patch trench, not getting anything throwing the Chicken. I put on a spinnerbait as we got near the end of the trench and got a pike right away. I gave Todd the rod with the spinnerbait, and it was pike on right away. I had a pike swipe at me. Todd hooked a 5lb pike; he says it is his PB. We anchored there at the lip/funnel for a while. Then we fished back up the southern side but didn't get anything. The wind got to be too much, so I motored us to calm water at the West of Access Pad Bay. There was nothing in shallow, so we worked out to the weed flat and did a long drift outside of Westof Access Reeds in 5' to 7'. Darn, Pike lost two Indiana Blades. I got an occasional hit on the Chicken. Todd started using a Jackhammer after the second Indiana blade went bye-bye. He got pike on that as well. We got the gateway to the Melon Patch, and we both hooked up with a bass at the same time. Unfortunately, mine came off. We got a couple of pike and missed some bites as we drifted the rest of the way to the Melone Patch. The wind diminished quite a bit. As it was getting dark, I ran us to NPBI and caught a 4.40-lb pike and a 2-lber on the Chicken Jig. Todd may have hooked up or got snagged. We had a bit of a fire drill in the wind off the point. At least the trolling motor didn't give either of us too much guff.)
