Notes

I decided to try wet fly fishing tonight in the nice set of riffles below the railroad bridge. My focus was to try to present the flies dead drift sideways to the fish. I had a BH woolly bugger as my main fly, then a Rio Grande King 18" off it, then a Partridge and Pheasant 12" off of it. Lots of dead drifting, then letting the flies swing up at the end. Nothing. I did catch the whitey and had a couple hits towards the end by letting the flies dangle in the riffles.

At dusk, there were a decent amount of fish rising in the slack water. The rises were aggressive and at times the fish would almost porpoise without completely leaving the water. There were occasional fluttering caddisflies on teh water and I think the fish were chasing them. I tried skating my Elk Hair Caddis without luck. I need to work on my active caddis presentations.
