Notes

Wow, what a day!
Took John's advise, fished up from the reservoir. The flows were a little higher than I usually opening day fish, but, what the Hell, itching to go.
Put in just down from the bridge and started getting hits right off. Missed probably 7 between us before we started netting.
Fished the edges and a little out. Water was mod fast, deep and cold. Really started going crazy once Lisa reached the confluence below the island. Dropped into the run at the left side (nice deep, fast run - can't miss it). She was bringing in 14-17 inch rainbows with just about every cast. I was busy netting for her so not much on my tally.
Took a break for lunch, took a few more out of there and moved up about 70-100yds to a wide, rocky run and then it was my turn to join in. I caught 5 in five casts. By now, later in the afternoon, they were hitting both the Chubby and the dropper whereas mostly the dropper earlier.
Got tired of catching, on last Chubby and Hare's ear so packed it in.
I figure they were fish coming up from the reservoir and those runs were the first really concentrating the early summer bugs.
The Hare's ear was a #12 with a LARGE gold bead and tied on a 'jig-like' hook. Don't know if that made any difference (the way it drifted?) but will use it again.
