Notes

An incredible late summer trip with John St. John of Hog Island Boatworks and T-Dog, left the shop at 1:00 and got on the water at 2:30. It was a Monday afternoon so not much traffic, (a couple families doing their last private 'overnight' raft trip with the kids before school starts.) Only passed by 1 other drift boat, took a break on THE big beach above the "Eye". Enjoyed some stinky cheese, elk sausage and cold beer. Walk wading above the Canyon was productive. The really big fish were tight up against the bank hanging under the willows and grass. Not much luck with streamers in the deep pools, but who cares when you're getting the job done on the surface! Broke a couple of real pigs off in the fast water. Rowed the last mile to Radium in complete darkness, been there done that, not a big deal. Even picked up 3 fish by the light of a dimming headlamp. All in all, another great day on the Rio Colorado.
