Notes

USGS 13309220 MF SALMON RIVER AT MF LODGE NR YELLOW PINE ID
Been hearing about the fishing above Dagger Falls so thought I'd give it a try. Most reports say hike a mile or so above Falls to fish but there wasn't much good water at that point.
The hike is easy, very scenic vistas. The problem was it was mostly wide, flat water with little cover or variation in structure. Also, realitively difficult at times to access river cuz the trail stays high above the river.
Ended up hikng ~ 2.5 miles with little fishing opportunities. When I did hit the river, got nothing. The water was ~ thigh deep overall and was running pretty hard for wading. Again, awesome views tho.
Finally hit a run/pool where the river narrowed somewhat - pretty much within view if the bridge. Got one rainbow and a few pesky brroks, nothing really worth mentioning.
Perhaps too high flows? Didn't hike far enough? Not sure.
Probably worth trying again in early Fall.
