Notes

Hiked Lake Creek to lakes (frozen). Stopped outside Copper Basin at East Fork. Small stream, ~6-7 ft across. This was above where Copper Basin drained in. Below that, the water was high, fast, and murky. Here it was clear with shallow runs and 2-4 ft pools. Very winding through area but easy to fish from bank - didn't even put on the waders.

Tried pheasant tail/copper john combo at first with no luck. Then a hatch erupted from the banks and the game was on. I fished for ~ hour and half and on average, caught a fish on every third cast. It was literally mayhem. I probably caught 25-30 fish.

Fished the pools - above, in, and the tails. The fish literally fought each other for the fly. Went through 3 flies because they were so aggressive. I literally quit because I got tired of catching fish!

All-in-all one of the best fishing days ever. And just the scenery alone is worth the trip - awe-inspiring. If I ever win the lottery ...
