Notes

MCB, TMM, & BD:

I got a late start this morning because I had a load of logs deleivered and I had to stay and supervise that process. I got to the upper end of the privite quarry road about 8:30 which is at least an hour, maybe an hour and a half later than I normally would start fishing. I fly-guy was just walking away from his car as I pulled up, so I geared up and then walked down and checked where he was fishing. He was fishing around the bridges, RR and 453 bridge, so I walked downstream to the lower RR bridge and started fishing below it. I fished for about 2.5 hours and was back to the upper bridges and the fly-guy was still fishing around them, so I quit. He didn't interfer with me and I didn't bother him, so it all worked out. I didn't see anyone else on those sections this morning.

I had a good morning and caught 21 fish, 19 brown trout, and two little rock bass. The biggest trout was only 12 inches and the smallest was about 6-7 inches. Most of the trout were in the 9-10 inch range. I didn't catch a single fingerling and I know we dumped a bunch in at both of those RR bridges. I seem to remember catching a lot of those little buggers other years, but for some reason or another, I don't think I have caught a single fingerling so far this year. Either the big trout already ate them all or maybe they are too small to chase after my #2 spinner blade. Who knows?? By the time I quit it was getting very warm and it was time to eat lunch and head for home. I forget whether the water temperature was 58 degrees or 68 degrees. I think it was 68 degrees which is warm for this time of the year for the LJ, but then it has been much hotter than normal for almost a week.

My sister, brother-in-law, and their grandson are coming this afternoon and will be here until after breakfast tomorrow, so I don't think I'll get on the stream again until Thursday.
