Notes

The caenis hatch was phenomenal from 9:00-10:00. During that time you could look out across the lake and see 20-30 rise forms simultaneously. I had 2 fish on my spinner (I think, could have been the emerger) but of course they got off. Despite my struggles it is good to know that the caenis hatch I saw last year was no fluke - they are a major hatch on OsLa3. I don't know why they are dissed so much on westfly and other entomology sites. They might be rare but when the environment suits them they are a force to be reckoned with and a tremendous challenge, similar to tricos. In fact I think of them as the tricos' white trash cousins. They are Cousin Eddies of the mayflies.
