Notes

Wow, what a great day. After getting skunked with Kristi I went out on my own. Nothing at the usual first Alsea stop. Went to a spot I fished when the water was really high in Feb. Caught 3 small ones (all released) Lots of bites from small, agressive rainbows who wouldn't get hooked but kept hitting the lure. Went to a new spot "The Gate" where there is a 300 yard streach of faster water with overhanging bushes on the opposite bank. Fish everywhere. A hit on every other cast, a fish on on every third cast and about 75 percent of the fish on spit the hook (fishing catch and release so had the barbs bent down so I didn't hurt the fish by hooking them badly). had a really nice rainbow on who spit the hook as I was getting him out of the water - I was gonna eat him for dinner!

I got greedy and went further up river to a secret spot where I waded and fished about 500 yards of river. Several good fish and 1 nice 11 inch rainbow that I caught at 4:30 and kept and had for a snack about an hour later (grilled with just a little spray of oil and some seasoned alt and pepper - fresh and delicious!). Had a great time and can't wait to get back to the river.
