Notes

Billingsley Creek was real nice but it is already very weedy. However in the channels that weren't choked with weeds the fish were stacked all along the creek. When I arrived at 10:00am there were quite a few PMDs coming off the water and alot of fish rising, but I must have just caught the tail end of the PMD hatch because it was over within a few minutes. In addition to PMDs I think the fish were also taking midges on the surface because the rises continued although not as frequently. I also saw a large group of callibaetis dancing over a stillwater section of the creek when I arrived.

I'd like to get there an hour earlier to catch more of the PMD hatch.

Oh yeah, as I fished the pipe hole I heard a ruckus on the far bank. I assumed it was some quarreling blackbirds or maybe gulls landing. When I looked up I was surprised to see a lone turkey standing at the edge of the creek.

The 20" brown is a nice fish!

Yeah he was pretty fat. I was impressed with the PMD hatch in the morning. I remember you commenting once about the lack of insect activity on Billingsley, but the PMD hatch Sunday morning was real solid. Also the number of midges was impressive. As I stood in the weeds and casted to the fish in the weed-free zones my legs would be covered by hundreds of midges.
