Notes

After a quick swing by Martins Pond bridge that was entirely unproductive, I hit Stearns intent on topwater action. Pickerel hit the Rapala several times, throwing it in the air or, in one case, dragging it into the weeds before throwing the hook.

Finally, a medium to large pickerel got hold of it a few yards from the bank and I was able to land it.

There were many vehicles in the pull-off by Berry Pond fooling me into thinking it had been stocked. It hadn't. A guy called Billy - cousin by marriage of Charlie Moore - was fishing with shiners with his daughter, Mika. They got a nice looking largemouth . I was mainly a spectator . . .
