Notes

Once again, another sad day on the Black River. I don't understand what is happening in the river this year. I fished a drop-off where the walleye come in to feed in the shallows at night. The walleye were in, but their size was disturbing. The average walleye in this portion of the river used to be around 20". You would catch a couple of big ones, a couple of small ones, and a bunch around 20". My average was 10". ?? Overpopulation, overharvest of mature adults, recovering population??? I don't know.
