Notes

I realize I'm a bit slow - but I tried Hanging and Bobbing again at Tin Cup Lake. Once again, I caught no fish on the nymphs and all the fish on the Stimulator. The lake was interesting - quite large, and very very few fish cruising. I think I did spot a large grayling but that was only 1 fish in over 4 hours of fishing. With the cutthroats I caught on top, the fish seemed to hide among the bigger boulders of the botton, not really cruising. They would then rush up several feet to hit the Stimulator.

THOUGHTS ON THE HANG AND BOB
I had success with the H&B earlier in the year when the trout were cruising around looking for nymphs and there wasn't a whole lot of surface activity. I think. As the summer has progressed the fish might be focused more on surface feeding and are less likely to hit subsurface nymphs. Especially cutthroats. See Karl's results at Gunsight to further my point.

I also tried slow retrieving nymphs with a sinking line in at least 20' of water and caught only 1 fish. I tried a black woolly bugger with no success. Very slow, hard fishing with
