Notes
Hit Wildhorse more towards Copper Basin and also a bit lower towards cabin (new areas). Water was slightly higher than usual so more difficult to just wade the river, was relegated more towards openings in the brush. Was flowing pretty hot in the narrows. Got most the action on the Tony Stim, which made sense cuz there was a pretty aggressive caddis hatch. Saw one hit the top. Tried some bigger bugs (hoppers) but no luck. Size 12 and bushy seemed to be the ticket. ~12:30 the wind picked up, the bugs disappeared and a big thunderstorm rolled in with big wind, heavy rain and lightning - basically chased me off the river.
Love Wildhorse for the big fish you catch in unlikely places - always have to be on guard. Access was steep and brush sorta heavy so it was in and out. Of course, the juicy spots were hard to access. Need to go with instinct and watch the environment - #12 caddis was the pick, wasted alot of casts trying things not there. Hoppers were on the mesa but hadn't reached the river yet.
Need to just try fishing there next time and bag the Big Lost and Upper E Fork.
